Cynthia and 9 students visited Elder Research on the Pi Day!

Congratulations!

Cynthia and 14 students visited the University Data Center (UDC). The director of UDC, Dale Robinson, gave us a wonderful tour so the students got to see cool high-performance servers, intricate networking setups, cutting-edge cooling systems that keeps everything running efficiently, etc. We also saw a telecom room which houses telecommunications equipment from AT&T, Verizon, etc. Every message sent out from the UVA stadium or JPJA would go through that room. Students also got a chance to meet with people from Research Computing (RC) department to learn about their work and the internship opportunities available in RC.
